The Consumer Credit Law Centre SA (CCLCSA) is a not-for-profit service provided by Uniting Communities and the Central Community Legal Service. The service is the first specialist Community Legal Service in South Australia solely focussed on helping people, in particular the disadvantaged and vulnerable, resolve their consumer credit and debt issues.
The CCLCSA offers free financial counselling and legal assistance for consumer credit issues, including debt, financial hardship, inability to negotiate payment plans, bankruptcy, mortgage stress and creditor conduct. Our lawyers also provide support to financial counsellors and other workers involved with consumer credit issues.
Our services are available to people in South Australia and we currently operate from offices in Medindie Gardens, the Adelaide CBD, Christies Beach and Smithfield.
On Thursday mornings we operate a credit and consumer legal advice clinic at the Adelaide Magistrates Court. If you are attending court about a consumer credit or debt matter, this service may be useful.
Community education is another of our priorities. Lawyers are available to speak about consumer credit matters at public events, conferences and community forums. We also undertake research and advocacy to improve consumer credit protections.
The CCLCSA is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. To make an appointment, please call (08) 8342 1800.
The CCLCSA is funded by the South Australian Government through the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion.
